PPG Meeting - Making the most of your medicines

Waterfront & Solent Surgery PPG
would like to present

"Making the Most of Your Medicines"

by
Neil Hardy,
Associate Director of MedicinesOptimisation at NHS West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group

Thursday 18th October 2018
7.15 pm
Hythe and Dibden Parish Hall
(where the Flu Clinic is held)

Understanding what your medicines are for, the way they work and when and how to take them and why they should be taken as prescribed can help to make sure you get the rest results. Regular medication reviews are essential to ensure your medicine is still safe and appropriate. As new treatments become available it is worth reviewing medicines that you have been taking for many years to see if there are better options available.

Patient Access - New & Improved!

If you already have access to our online services you may have noticed that Patient Access has undergone an update recently.

This change took place on the 31st May. The surgery was made aware that there were some initial teething troubles for existing users logging in on the 31st May but this was resolved on 1st June, and the new service is now up and running smoothly.

If you don't have online access this is a perfect time to consider getting registered to use the services. The features and abilities are best described on the Patient Access website here:
https://www.patientaccess.com

If you are not using our online services and would like to, you will need to contact our reception team to get a verification code to allow you to register. You will need to bring photo ID as confirmation.

Patient Participation Group Meeting - 19th April

All patients are invited to a talk titled:

Surgery Soapbox’
 by
Dr Simon Sherwin
Dr Andy Hoyle
Claire Sweetman

Thursday 19th April 2018
7.30 pm
Hythe and Dibden Parish Hall
(where the Flu Clinic is held)

There will be some exciting changes coming to the Waterfront and Solent Surgery In the coming months.
Now that the go ahead for an extension has been granted, Dr Simon Sherwin will outline the reasons for an extension that will better serve the needs of a growing patient population.
One of the proposed changes is for the practice to become a GP training practice. Dr Andy Hoyle has undertaken special training to provide this service. Dr Hoyle will describe what this involves and what patients can expect.
Claire Sweetman, who is an advanced skills nurse practitioner, will describe the skills she has and how these currently help patients. She will also outline how her role will be extended in the future.
There will be an opportunity for the patients present to ask questions from the three speakers about their presentations. It is hoped, too, that questions of a general nature can be answered and these should be handed in on arrival.
This meeting is being organised by the Patient Participation Group at the Waterfront and Solent Surgery. It is hoped that there will be, as usual, an enthusiastic response from the patients

Complimentary light refreshment will be available from 7.15pm.

All registered patients of the surgery are welcomed to this event
